GHC were commissioned to produce archaeological and built heritage reports to support an application for residential development of a c.6.5ha site on the edge of the village of Cottesmore. The site lies immediately adjacent to the Cottesmore Conservation Area and within the wider setting of a number of listed buildings. Whilst the Conservation Officer did not entirely agree with our conclusions of no harm to any designated heritage asset, they did concede that any harm would be very low and more than outweighed by the public benefits of the scheme. Geophysical survey and trial trench evaluation, managed by GHC, found that the only archaeological remains requiring further investigation were in one, very localised position.
